Barcelona

12 06 2009

Just wanted to say I’m off to Barcelona so that the last entry on my blog isn’t about "The Friend Zone".

Enjoy the British weather 🙂

Damn…

My dad phoned whilst I was in work today to tell me that my speeding ticket has arrived. So thats a ÂŁ60 fine and 3 points… Damn…

I’m still not going to moan about Speed Cameras since they’re there to catch those who break the law. I may moan out loud about low speed llimits, but mostly I’m gonna say thank God they caught me whilst I was going slow…

41 in a 30 through a village I’ve never ever seen anyone in. Ever… Though in the same journey I found out that my car *can* do 100…. isnt that nice?

Update #2

Paris photos now online…

Paris!

3 01 2005

Paris was great! Now for the whole story as I remember it…

Left Sarah’s at about 2am after accidentally falling asleep for about an hour. Sarah’s dad drove and we arrived at Heathrow Terminal 2 at about 3.30am to find out that Check in wont open until 5.15am. At 5am we start queuing for check-in having spent the last hour or so sat down upstairs near some shops (closed shops, but shops all the same). There’s a small argument amongst some passengers who decide that they can go to the front of the queue since everyone else for some reason started queuing quite far back. I dont care though, since we’ll get on the plane anyway. We check-in, wander around heathrow’s departure lounge and eventually board the plane at 6.40am and take-off

…On the plane we get a muffin and Sarah steals a chocolate ship from my muffin and falls asleep…

…We arrive in Charles De Gaulle Airport at about 8.45am and almost immediately collect our bags from the baggage collect place. We then walk half a mile down the airport terminal towards the RER to catch the train into Paris. RER to Metro and a couple of stops later we arrive at our Hotel (which could have been a lot worse, but wasnt great). One short rest later and we get the Metro to the Arc De Triomphe. Climbed up the Arc de Triomphe, climbed back down, walked down Champs D’Elysee (??), through Place de la Concorde to the Louvre. Queue for the louvre was huge, so we didnt go in, but instead took a metro back to the hotel for another short rest, grabbing 2 cheap Pizzas from a restaurant just around the corner from the hotel. Then back on the Metro to the Eiffel Tower. It’s now dark (about 7pm) and the Tour D’Eiffel is lit up nicely. We queue for about an hour to get to the top of it, take a lot of pictures and come back down, stopping for a hot dog on the second level. Back to the hotel at about 11pm and get some rest.

Daytime of New Years Eve… Having had a small amount of sleep, we go to the eiffel tower and get a boat (Batobus is the name of the company that ran our particular boat, they’re like a river-metro service) to the Musee D’orlay (??). Go inside, look at some art, get back on the boat to the Notre Dame. Looked around the outside of the Notre Dame but didnt go in cause the queue was huge. Got back on the boat to the Eiffel Tower, got a ham and cheese baguette and then jumped on a metro to La Defense, the site of The Grand Arch. It was a huge cubical building used as offices by the government and apparently the Notre Dame would easily fit inside the centre of it. We then went back to the hotel for seom rest and to get rid of our (Sarah’s) bag.

Then off to the Champ Elysee again for the New Year Celebrations. We arrive there at about 10.30, walk down it and get to the other end within an hour. Standing around for a bit, but then New Year finally arrives and the best fireworks display I’ve ever seen takes place. One firework went off with a bang that shook the ground, and happened to co-incide with a gust of air on the back of my head… I thought a bomb had gone off for a second, and to be fair it probably could have done without much notice. Back on the Metro (the queue to get in was huge, but out side of the station was empty), to the hotel and sleep.

New Years Day… Up at 9am to get to EuroDisney for about 10.30. Spend the most money on one thing during the entire holiday (49 euros each for a 1 day hopper so we can visit both parks). Ride the rides (the Rock n Roll Rollercoaster with Aerosmith was fantastic), see the sights (quite liked the special effects tour where they blow things up in front of you and drop a lot of water onto the fireball they just created) and then visit the sops (but didnt buy anything). 9pm, back to the hotel by 10 and asleep by midnight.

Yesterday morning was a quick visit to Sacre Coer (??), literallly only getting time to take a photo from the bottom of the hill it stands on before having to run back to the Metro to get back to the hotel in time for checkout. Arrive at the airport a little early, but we check in anyway, have a Pain o Chocolat and baguette before going through security and then sit down in the departures lounge for a bit. Duty Free turned out to be more expensive than Tesos here, so we didnt buy anything other than a small amount of Toblerone (now mostly gone). On the plane we had a beautiful sunset for a large portion of our flight, and then quite a good view of London when we came in to land. I’m sure we flew over some restricted areas…

Slept at Sarah’s last night and then came back to Newton Abbot this evening. Back to Aber tomorrow, work on Wednesday…

Could be ages before I see Sarah again and I miss her already, but memories of Paris will keep me going for a few days…

Photos will arrive soon, but I have to select the best of 159 photos to put up. Sarah’s will have been slightly better anyway since she has a better camera. Mine randomly focuses on stuff and blurs quite a lot…

In short, Paris was great, New Year was Fantastic and I’m knackered but unable to find time to rest for another 4 days…

Quick entry.

12 12 2004

Did the test again earlier and got 91%. Been reading a "fast facts" thing thats on that CD and is quite good. Thats quite obvious from the result. Shame about the 7am start for tomorrow really…

Steve won X-Factor. That was good cause I didnt like G4s rendition of Opera. It took away the unique thing they had going for them when they sang Britney Spears. And I dont like Louis…

Sarah is being annoying, so I must go… byeee………….
